Temperament Diagnosis Test

The Nakatani Test is a modern and scientific method for assessing the body’s energy balance and temperament, rooted in Eastern medicine and the principles of vital energy (Qi) equilibrium. In this test, the functional state of internal organs is evaluated by measuring the skin’s electrical conductivity at specific points on the hands and feet.

Test point locations

In the Nakatani method, a total of 24 test points on the body are examined.

  • There are 6 points on each hand and 6 points on each foot.

  • These points are located precisely along the body’s energy pathways (meridians), and each one is connected to one of the major internal organs.

Points on the hands

  • On the inner side of the hands:

    • Small intestine

    • Heart

    • Pericardium (heart protector membrane)

  • On the outer side of the hands:

    • Large intestine

    • Lungs

    • San Jiao (Triple Burner) — associated with regulating body temperature and fluid balance.

Points on the feet

  • In the foot area, each point is connected to one of the body’s vital organs:

    • Liver

    • Spleen

    • Kidney

    • Bladder

    • Gallbladder

    • Stomach

How the test is performed

During the test, the patient holds a metal electrode in their right hand while the practitioner uses a special probe to measure the test points on the left hand. The same process is then repeated in reverse for the other hand and subsequently for the feet.

Each point has a specific level of electrical resistance or conductivity, which is measured by the device. The obtained values are interpreted according to the standard Nakatani chart and indicate the state of energy balance within the body’s various meridians.

Purpose and benefits of the test

The results of the Nakatani test can accurately reveal:

  • Which organs are experiencing energy deficiency or overactivity,

  • What the overall state of the body’s energy balance is,

  • And which type of temperament or energy pattern is dominant in the person’s body.

This information helps the specialist create a personalized treatment plan that includes nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, herbal remedies, or techniques to restore the body’s energy balance.
